Kai Havertz has conceded that his move to Chelsea has not been “easy” but he aims to build “a lot of confidence” from his showing against Everton.
The German enjoyed a stellar season with Bayer Leverkusen in 2019/20. He got 18 goals and nine assists for them from his 45 appearances in all competitions. This took his tally for them to 46 goals and 31 assists from 150 outings.
This form tempted Chelsea to splash out around £70m for the 21-year-old last summer. He was one of a few signings as the Blues spent over £200m on new recruits.

Havertz has struggled so far this season, as he has only netted once from his 20 Premier League appearances.
The German international arguably had his best showing in a Chelsea shirt on Monday night. He got two assists as the Blues beat Everton 2-0. He also had a goal disallowed for handball.
Speaking via the club’s official website, Havertz was aware that it has taken time to get to his best:
“It wasn’t easy for me to come here, everything was new. I think it’s seven months ago since I came so now it’s time to perform. I know that.
“I know there are many people right now who have had doubts about me but I just keep on going, keep on working. I try to help my team in every training session and every game, that’s the most important thing.
“I hope that a performance like this will give me a lot of confidence. I hope to continue like this.
“It would be nice to have a goal because I’ve had a lot of time without one. But I don’t care about this. The most important thing is we score, that’s what counts.”
