Haller ‘complaining to everyone and everything’ at Ajax

Ajax are better off in the Europa League without former West Ham striker Sebastian Haller, according to Dutch football analyst Theo Janssen.

Haller moved to the Netherlands in January for €22.5million after a frustrating spell at the London Stadium.

Signed for £45million, the Ivorian admitted he struggled to justify his huge price tag in claret and blue.

A return of 14 goals in 54 appearances was a poor return for such an outlay, something he acknowledged when he spoke to TalkSport earlier this month.

“I never blame one thing it’s just the situation that you need to understand and see.

“It was really frustrating to see those games coming and getting no goals. I also had the feeling that I couldn’t really find the perfect place on the pitch or anticipate what my partner will do.

“I never usually look back with regrets but of course I feel frustrated because I left without finishing something and that’s a bad feeling.”

Haller has bagged six goals and five assists in 11 Eredivisie games, seemingly banishing memories of his unhappy stay in England.

However, it seems, according to former Ajax midfielder Janssen, the striker is suffering similar discontent at his new club.

Haller was famously left out of Ajax’s Europa League squad by accident earlier this year.

His absence opened the door for Dusin Tadic and Janssen says Ajax have been all the better for it.

The Dutch giants cruised into the last eight with a 5-0 aggregate win over Young Boys, with Tadic on the mark in both legs.

Roma lie in wait and the quarter-finals and Janssen said Ajax’s hopes of further progress are improved with the veteran Serb leading the line.

“Ajax play the best with Tadic in the striker’s box, but they bought Haller for such a large amount,” he told RTL7.

“In the league, he will always play, and he will continue to score his goals, because Ajax are much better than their opponents.

“He’s a bit uninterested. He doesn’t seem to be in the mood for it, and he’s complaining to everyone and everything.”
