Raiola ‘lands in Barcelona’ after Haaland transfer talks

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Erling Haaland’s agent Mino Raiola has landed in Barcelona following talks with Borussia Dortmund over Erling Haaland’s future.

Haaland has been linked with a wide arrray of top European clubs for the last six months, with Manchester City, Manchester United, Chelsea, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich all said to have been interested.

Bayern have ruled themselves out of the running with the club fearing the Norwegian would grow frustrated at playing second fiddle to Robert Lewandowski at the Allianz Arena.

But the news broken by Romano will put his other suitors on alert – Barcelona now appear to have jumped to the front of the queue in the race for the goal machine.

Romano says Raiola landed in Barcelona on Thursday – presumably to hold talks with the Nou Camp bosses – having spent ‘the last days’ in Dortmund discussing Haaland’s future with his current club.

He added that negotiations are a ‘work in progress’ with ‘many clubs involved’.

Meanwhile, Rio Ferdinand has insisted that his former club Manchester United “can’t afford” to miss out on Haaland.

He said: “You know what, they’ve just got to go and give everything to get Haaland, I don’t care.

“I don’t like to talk about players coming from other teams but this guy man, we can’t afford to let this guy go anywhere else.

“His only destination is England, that’s the only place he’s going. If he goes anywhere else I’d be so surprised.

“Born here, born and bred. He obviously loves English football, his dad played here. I’m sure it’s one of his dreams to come and play in England.

“Why not in the red shirt at Old Trafford? Be the guy that brings trophies back to Man United and brings the successful period back. Be that guy.”
