Guardiola: Man City without ‘three or four’ players for FA Cup

Pep Guardiola has confirmed that Sergio Aguero, Kevin De Bruyne and Nathan Ake will all miss Man City’s FA Cup tie with Swansea City.

Aguero has barely featured for Manchester City this season. He has only managed to start three games across all competitions for Guardiola’s side.

The forward missed the first few weeks of the season with a knee injury. He returned to action in October but he then suffered a hamstring injury that kept him out for several more games.

Since he recovered from injury, he has only been able to make three substitute appearances in the Premier League.

Aguero was hit with another blow in January as he tested positive for COVID-19. He is yet to make his return to first-team action.

Meanwhile, De Bruyne is still out having suffered a hamstring injury. Ake is set to miss City’s FA Cup fifth-round tie because of a muscle problem.

Speaking during his latest press conference, as cited by BBC Sport, Guardiola revealed that Aguero recently returned to training:

“Yesterday he trained with the group for 10 or 15 minutes and later he did some parts alone.

“Day by day he is feeling better.”

“We will travel with the team who is fit, we have three or four injured players and will call some players from the second team.”
