Grealish’s agent hints at ‘very big’ transfers for his players

Jack Grealish’s agent, Jonathan Barnett, has suggested that he expects some “very big” transfers involving his players this summer.

Grealish made his debut for Aston Villa at the end of the 2013/14 season after he had a successful loan spell in League One with Notts County.

The youngster established himself as a regular for his boyhood club in the Premier League the season after.

The midfielder played 33 times for them in the top flight between 2014 and 2016 before they were relegated.

The Villans spent three years in the Championship and in that time Grealish became an integral player. He shone for them in 2018/19 as they earned promotion through the play-offs.

Before the national lockdown last year, Villa looked certainties to go down. But they looked like a completely different team after the restart and Grealish played a big part in that.

The Englishman got eight goals and six assists to help his side narrowly avoid the drop.

Grealish has kicked on this season as he has six goals and ten assists from just 22 outings in the Premier League. This form has helped him to establish himself as a regular for England.

The player’s agent, who also represents Liverpool target Ibrahima Konate, told The Athletic that it will be a big summer for his players:

“It is going to be harder. But I’m expecting three or four very big deals of my own that will break a lot of records.

“Hopefully, they’ll come about.

“For the smaller clubs, I think there won’t be as many transfers.

“We have some very good players, we have probably the best young player in the world in Eduardo Camavinga.

“We’ve got Grealish, we’ve got Ibrahima Konate at RB Leipzig. But then I’ve got over 100 players.”

In a recent interview cited by Birmingham Live, Villa boss Dean Smith admitted that it is a challenge for them to meet Grealish’s ambitions:

“If we don’t keep progressing and become a club that’s challenging in Europe then we probably won’t meet Jack’s ambitions. There will be a time where Jack looks elsewhere then.

“At the moment, he can see the progression at the football club and he wants to be a part of that.”
