Former Chelsea star Oscar to consider return before retiring

Former Chelsea star Oscar says he will ‘consider’ a Stamford Bridge return before retiring as a player.

The Brazilian left for Chinese side Shanghai Port in 2017 for a £54million fee.

His European exit surprised many as he was seen to be chasing money rather than the sport’s biggest trophies.

Oscar’s move has seen him left out of the Brazil squad in recent years, despite being a top talent.

Coming back to Europe could see him return to the national team setup in time for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Ahead of Chelsea‘s Champions League final against Man City, Oscar was asked if he still wanted to win Europe’s biggest prize.

He told Goal: “For sure, but first I have to think on returning to a top side in Europe. I think I will have some opportunities.

“I hope I can continue to play like I’m playing here, so I know I’ll have open doors for me as well.

“I have a good relationship with Chelsea, I have huge fondness for the club and it’s supporters. So, after my contract is over it’s one of the clubs that I will consider with all of my heart.”

Oscar was also asked about the greatest Brazilian stars to grace the Premier League. He said: “It’s difficult to make a list. There were very great players, Juninho Paulista in the past, but sure, Fernandinho.

“He’s at Manchester City for a very long time and playing in Manchester City’s best years. He always played beautifully and deserves to be in this list.”

Oscar joined Chelsea from Brazilian outfit Internacional in 2012 for a £28million fee.

He made 34 Premier League appearances in his first season at Stamford Bridge, notching four goals and seven assists.

He also featured nine times in the Europa League as Chelsea won the competition, one year on from their last Champions League triumph.

Oscar remained a first-team regular the following season and even improved his goalscoring tally in fewer games.

However, the player began to be linked with a move to China 2016 and soon left Europe.

He made 203 appearances for the Blues in total, scoring 38 goals.
