Report claims Fernandes will help Man Utd seal £40m transfer

Bruno Fernandes will help Man Utd seal a transfer for Wolves star Pedro Neto this summer if they follow up their interest, according to reports.

The forward joined Wolves from Lazio in 2019 for £16m, going on to score three goals and three assists in nine Premier League starts in his first season.

He has improved again this term as he’s started more matches, contributing five goals and five assists in the league with that form leading to links with the likes of Liverpool.

Man Utd are another club that has been mentioned, with a report over the weekend claiming the Red Devils consider him a ‘genuine’ Plan B for their ‘top priority’ position on the right wing.

Their Plan A being Jadon Sancho – but the report on Sunday added that ‘there’s no guarantee’ Dortmund will sell to United this summer, leaving Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looking at alternatives.

And now Football Insider reckon that Fernandes, who is an international team-mate of Neto’s, will ‘help Man United lure’ the Wolves forward to Old Trafford.

There is the possibility of ‘a blockbuster summer move’ with a source at the club telling Football Insider that Man Utd ‘believe Neto’s countryman Fernandes could be key to their pursuit’.

Football Insider added:

‘His value has more than doubled since that stage although it’s unlikely he would cost more than £40m in the summer.

‘Wolves will need to sell before they can buy in the summer as their once prolific spending comes to an end.’

Neto only signed a new five-year contract at Molineux in November and in an interview at the time he said he was looking forward to taking Wolves “to a higher level”.

Neto said: “This new deal shows I’m working very hard and I was expecting it because I worked for it. I always work to improve my game, so it comes with that.

“I work hard every day, so I’m very happy about it, but I will continue to work now.

“We say that nothing is given to you, so you have to work hard and what I have done in the last year-and-a-half is work hard every day, continue to improve and learn from my team-mates.

“It’s been very good to be here and learn a lot with the coach, with my teammates, with everyone, and I will keep improving.

“I think it’s the good thing about this team, because we all think the same way, we’re like a pack, like we say, so we work all to the same goals, all of us try to improve every day, because the way that we play is to improve.

“It’s the mentality of the team and the mentality of the players that are taking this club to a higher level.

“We go day by day; improving, working and letting things happen naturally, but I know what I want to achieve. I want to be the best.”
