Fearful Kane gives friends ’emphatic’ answer over Spurs future

A report has revealed that Harry Kane has told his close friends that he wants to leave Spurs this summer to pursue a new challenge.

The England international has been linked with a summer transfer to Manchester United and Real Madrid as Tottenham continue to fail to match his ambitions.

Since reaching the Champions League final in 2019, Spurs have taken a big backwards step as they look become a dominant force domestically and in Europe.

BIG WEEKEND: Spurs v Man Utd, Arteta, Soucek, El Clasico

Jose Mourinho’s side have reached the final of the Carabao Cup but their form in the Premier League and Europe this season has been poor.

That has fueled rumours that Kane could leave this summer with some reports claiming he ‘wants to leave’ his boyhood club.

Kane recently did little to dismiss the rumours, he said: “Look, I try to stay out of that speculation as much as possible. I’m fully focused on doing the job on the pitch from now until the end of the summer and then we’ll see where we go from there.”

And Football Insider claims that Kane has ‘made it clear to friends that he wants to quit Tottenham this summer’ and ‘has questioned the club’s ambition and fears the team is treading water at a critical point in his career’.

Despite remaining relatively coy about his future, Kane ‘has been more emphatic behind the scenes in conversations to those close to him’ with a source telling Football Insider that the Spurs star is ‘”100 per cent thinking of moving on” and is ready to do so.’

Winning his first silverware against Manchester City in the Carabao Cup later in April is ‘very unlikely to change his mind’ but he ‘does not want to go public with his intentions’ before the Euros in the summer.

The main doubt about Kane leaving is the huge price that Spurs are likely to demand for his services with reports in The Sun that they could ask for £175m.

Meanwhile, former Rangers striker Ally McCoist reckons Kane will move on this summer as he faces the “biggest decision” of his career.

McCoist told talkSPORT: “I think Harry Kane’s ideal situation would be winning trophies with Spurs, competing in the league, and playing in the Champions League and he could beat Jimmy Greaves’ record and he could go on and beat Wayne Rooney’s record.

“That, for me, is the ideal situation that Harry Kane would want. Sadly, I don’t think it’s going to happen that way.

“I think this summer will be his biggest decision he’ll probably have to make ever in terms of his career.

“In terms of the timing of it. He either moves now or he doesn’t. I think, and if you’re asking me what I think he’ll do, I actually think he might move.”
