Luis Suarez was frustrated at the thin squad depth at Liverpool during his time on Merseyside with the club’s failure to play Fabio Borini contributing to his exit, according to a report.
Liverpool strengthened their side in the summer of 2012, bringing in the likes of Joe Allen and Borini to add to the depth of their squad.
The following summer, with Liverpool’s chances of winning the title appearing slim, Liverpool rejected a bid of £40,000,001 from Arsenal for Suarez with the forward seeking to leave Anfield.

However, he reversed his decision, scoring 31 goals as the Reds looked like winning the Premier League title in 2013/14, before a defeat at home to Chelsea and a 3-3 draw at Crystal Palace turned the title race on its head, as Manchester City won the division by two points.
The Uruguayan left that summer with Liverpool agreeing a fee in the region of €82.3m to sell him to Barcelona, where he went on to score 198 goals in 283 appearances for the Catalan giants.
On their 2012/13 campaign and summer signings, a report in The Athletic said:
‘Suarez considered Joe Allen to be a good signing but he was frustrated when Fabio Borini, who was brought in to play in one of the wide areas of Liverpool’s attack, did not emerge as a regular starter. Suarez concluded the depth in Liverpool’s squad was thin and he did not feel as though he was being challenged enough, even for his own place.
‘He was approaching his 27th birthday and was concerned about the direction of his career, questioning whether some of his actions had been drawn out of frustration.’
