Everton fend off rivals to sign Joshua King

Everton have beat Premier League rivals Fulham to the signing of AFC Bournemouth forward Joshua King.

The attacker spent a successful five years in the top flight with Bournemouth. He scored 48 goals from his 161 appearances in all competitions in the Premier League.

The 29-year-old shone for the Cherries last term as they were relegated back down to the Championship. He netted six times from his 26 outings.

King looked likely to leave in January 2020 with Man United interested, but the deal fell through on deadline day.

The Norway international was also linked with a move away in the summer. Yet this did not come to fruition as he remained with Bournemouth at the start of their Championship season.

He is out of contract this summer so it was always likely that he would exit the Vitality Stadium this month.

Everton and Fulham lead the race to sign him on deadline day, as both clubs agreed on deals with Bournemouth for the signing.

It was then down to the player to decide where he wanted to go, and he opted to join Everton.

Sky Sports reported shortly after the deadline that the Toffees had signed King on a short term deal until the end of the season.

The club sent off the deal sheet to the FA in time before the 11:00 pm deadline. There are just the formalities to complete before King will become an Everton player.
