AC Milan chief executive Ivan Gazidis says the proposed European Super League will be good for the whole sport.
Milan are one of the 12 clubs aiming to be a founding member of the new European competition.
They’re joined by Italian rivals Inter and Juventus, as well as the Premier League’s ‘Big Six’.

All of the involved teams have received massive backlash about their plans. Gary Neville has slammed them for their money-grabbing venture, while Sir Alex Ferguson says it will ‘tear away 70 years of history’.
But Gazidis, who spent ten years as an executive at Arsenal, believes it will start an exciting chapter for football.
Writing to Milan’s commercial partners (via Sky Sports), he said: “We’re confident that this new competition will capture the imagination of billions of soccer fans all over the world and will be a new, exciting chapter for the game.
“The Super League will provide value and support to the whole soccer pyramid with greater financial resources.”
Speaking about Milan’s intent to stay in Serie A, he added: “It will remain the most important weekend competition in Italy and Milan is proud to remain.”
Gazidis is heavily involved in the proposals, along with Real Madrid president Florentino Perez.
The Spaniard will become the first chairman of the ESL. Joel Glazer of Manchester United and Juventus’ Andrea Agnelli look set to become his vice chairs.
However, the organisers have come under scrutiny from some of the most important people in football.
UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin said: “I cannot stress more strongly how everyone is united against this disgraceful, self-serving proposal, fuelled by greed above all else.
“We are all united against this nonsense of a project. Cynical plan, completely against what football should be. We cannot and will not allow that to change.
“Players who will play in the teams that might play in the closed league will be banned from the World Cup and Euros.
“We urge everyone to stand tall with us as we do everything in our power to ensure this never ends up in fruition.”
FIFA president Gianni Infantino says the organisation ‘strongly disapproves’ of the ESL.
