Starting tomorrow, ITV will be showing all 31 matches from the 1996 European Championships on the ITV Hub and ITV4.
It is something that I have really been looking forward to, ever since it was announced in April. It will be the first chance to see the matches in their entirety for the first time in 24 years.
The semi-final against Germany will make extremely painful viewing as there were so many opportunities to beat them and progress to the Final. Darren Anderton hitting the post, Gazza not quite reaching Alan Shearer’s cross-shot (is it wrong to still have flashbacks all these years later), David Seaman not quite getting to any of the German penalties and of course, Gareth Southgate’s miss.
I have decided that I will try and watch as many of the games as possible and write some match reports on here for the games.
It’s been a while since there has been any live football, so it will be nice to watch 90 minutes of football once more! Well done ITV!
