Owners of the 12 European Super League clubs are ‘secretly delighted’ about UEFA’s World Cup stance, according to reports.
The likes of Manchester United and Liverpool, alongside the rest of the Premier League’s ‘Big Six’, are hoping to break away and form a new European competition.
The announcement has caused a sh*tstorm, with fans and pundits calling out the organisers for their treachery and greed.

UEFA reacted to the ESL plans by saying players will be banned from representing their countries at this summer’s European Championship.
They could also miss out on the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
Here’s what UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin said: “The players that play in the Super League will be banned from playing in the World Cup and Euros. We will take all the sanctions we can.
“We are all united against this nonsense of a project.”
We never thought we’d see an England team without Harry Kane in attack. But now it looks like it might happen.
According to Sky Sports’ Kaveh Solhekol, the news isn’t all bad for the owners of the ESL’s 12 members.
They are said to be ‘secretly delighted’ about their star players missing international duty.
The club owners get ‘very little financial reward for releasing players’ to their respective countries, and are also worried about injury problems.
Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is the first chairman of the ESL.
His vice chairs are Joel Glazer of Manchester United and Juventus’ Andrea Agnelli.
Ceferin launched a particularly scathing attack on Agnelli when speaking about the ESL.
He said: “I have never seen a person lie so many times and as persistently as he did. I spoke with him on Saturday afternoon and he said it is all lies.
“We didn’t know we had snakes so close to us, now we know.”
A World Cup without some of its biggest European stars would be both awful and fascinating at the same time.
England would lose Marcus Rashford and Phil Foden in addition to Kane. Reigning champions France would have to do without Manchester United duo Paul Pogba and Anthony Martial, as well as Barcelona’s Antoine Griezmann.
