Chelsea will benefit from any sale of Tariq Lamptey, as they have a sell-on clause for the Brighton man. Arsenal are interested in the defender, according to reports.
The defender came through the ranks with Chelsea and he made his senior debut for them in December 2019. He came off the bench against Arsenal with the Blues 1-0 down.
Lamptey made a great impression on the game as his side fought back to win 2-1.
SPOILER ALERT: N’Golo Kante is back to his Chelsea best
This turned out to be his only first team appearance for Chelsea, as he joined Brighton on loan in January.
Lamptey made eight appearances for the Seagulls before the end of the season. He impressed enough to tempt Graham Potter to sign him permanently that summer for £3m.
The 20-year-old has continued to shine for Brighton since then, with him playing eleven times so far this campaign.
His form for Brighton earned him his first caps for England U21’s last year. He got his first-ever Premier League goal in November to help his side beat Tottenham 2-1.
The Express have reported that Arsenal and Everton are interested in signing Lamptey this summer. But it is believed that the Gunners will be favourites to sign him.
In a separate report from Fabrizio Romano, it is claimed that Mikel Arteta sees Lamptey as an ideal replacement for Hector Bellerin.
When Chelsea sold Lamptey, the deal did not include a buy-back option. But they do have a sell-on clause for the defender.
