Chelsea players were reportedly left ‘bemused’ by Thomas Tuchel’s effort to boost confidence by showing them an old Carlsberg advert.
The Blues put in a brilliant performance as they beat Real Madrid 2-0 on Wednesday to reach the final of the Champions League against Manchester City later this month.
That comes after Tuchel also guided Chelsea to the FA Cup final, where they will face Leicester City at Wembley on May 15.
BIG WEEKEND: Chelsea v City, West Ham, Mason, Bruno
The German took over from Frank Lampard at the end of January and immediately changed their fortunes, losing just twice in 24 matches in all competitions.
As well as two cup finals, Chelsea are also now well placed to finish in the top four as they sit in fourth, three points ahead of fifth-placed West Ham.
And The Sun now claim their push was helped by ‘a boozy Hell’s Angels advert’ with the Chelsea boss ‘working to change the mentality of his stars’.
His ‘off-the-wall tactics’ included ‘using a two-minute advert featuring a pack of tattooed bikers to convince them not to be scared of anyone’.
The short advert for Carlsberg showed a cinema full of bikers with only two seats left for a series of couples.
Some turned away, while others took their place in between the menacing-looking bikers, who were all staring at the couples as they entered the screen.
The ones who did take their seat were greeted with cheers from the 148 bikers with Tuchel urging his players to follow the example of the couples and show they are not ‘frightened of situations’.
Tuchel’s ‘message was that the players must always be confident in themselves and their ability to perform, overcoming any internal doubts they may have’.
The Chelsea were ‘were left bemused several weeks ago’ when they thought they were watching a tactical film which turned out to be the Carlsberg advert.
It is said that the Blues players ‘exchanged quizzical looks’ as the commercial played at their Cobham training ground.
Meanwhile, Mason Mount has challenged Chelsea to “achieve greatness” by toppling favourites Man City to win the Champions League.
“We are in the Champions League final and we have got to finish it off,” said Mount. “We need to keep going and we can achieve greatness.
“It was a big two games to push through and beat this team, one of the best in the world, and we’ve done it.
“Now we need to do it again. It’s not over, there’s one more game left.
“We are going to give it everything. We are going into it with full confidence, like we have with this whole road getting there.”
