Chelsea will look to re-sign Romelu Lukaku if they fail in their pursuit of Dortmund’s Erling Haaland, according to reports.
Lukaku left Chelsea to join Everton in July 2014 after seeing his opportunities limited at Stamford Bridge.
He went on to secure a move to Manchester United before joining Italian giants Inter Milan in August 2019.

Since then, Lukaku has become one of the most prolific goalscorers in Europe.
He’s bagged an impressive 59 goals in 85 appearances for Antonio Conte’s side.
That form has seen him gain interest from Man City, as well as former club Chelsea.
According to The Telegraph, the Blues will aim to sign Lukaku if they’re rebuffed in their attempts to get Haaland.
Haaland is probably the most sought after player in the world right now after becoming a scoring sensation in Germany.
His 49 goals in 49 appearances for Dortmund somehow make Lukaku’s numbers look average.
Chelsea are firmly in the race to land Haaland, but they do face plenty of competition. Manchester United, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich are all planning bids of their own.
It’s thought that the Norwegian international will move in 2022 once his £68million release clause becomes active.
If Chelsea are beaten to that signing, then Lukaku could become their transfer priority.
Manager Thomas Tuchel is currently figuring out his best team. They’ve been solid at the back but Timo Werner’s lack of form is concerning for the German boss.
Werner ended his barren run with a goal against Newcastle last month. But the report states that Lukaku is wanted to give Chelsea even more firepower in attack.
He’s seen as the ideal solution to transform Chelsea into genuine title contenders going forward.
It’s thought that Lukaku would play well alongside wingers Hakim Ziyech, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Christian Pulisic.
Putting Lukaku down the middle could also see Werner pushed out wide, a position which can play to great effect.
Lukaku recently revealed one of the reasons for his upturn in form with Inter. He said: “Since I joined Inter I have changed my diet and I can say that I have never felt so strong.
“My diet consists of salads for lunch, a lot of chicken breast, Shirataki pasta.
“I don’t change my way of eating much, for how we play we must have a very strong physique, we run a lot: since I have followed this lifestyle I feel better on the pitch, I feel more reactive and faster.”
