Chelsea ‘offer’ on table for £56m Barca star, claim two reports

Chelsea have made one of ‘several offers’ to Miralem Pjanic as he looks set to leave Barcelona this summer, according to reports.

The Bosnia international has only made 12 starts in all competitions under Ronald Koeman this term with just six of those coming in La Liga.

The 31-year-old joined the Catalan giants from Juventus last year in a deal worth up to €65m (£56m) but his first season at the Camp Nou has been pretty miserable.

Premier League 2020/21 losers: Liverpool, Mourinho, Lampard

Nicknamed ‘il Piccolo Principe’ – which means ‘the Little Prince’ – during his time at Roma, Pjanic’s career had always been on an upward trajectory before his this campaign under Koeman.

And following their final match against Eibar on Saturday, Pjanic admitted that the season had left him with a “bitter taste” in his mouth.

He tweeted: “Honour the shirt. Respect the team. Give everything on and off the court. This is what you deserve Barcelona. This is what I have done with my teammates from day one. This season leaves me with a bitter taste and questions that still seek answers.”

And Spanish publications Mundo Deportivo and Sport (via Sport Witness) claim that his future now lies elsewhere with both reports linking him to Premier League side Chelsea.

Mundo Deportivo claim that Pjanic already has ‘several offers to leave’ including ones from the Blues, Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich.

Pjanic’s decision over his future is said to depend on whether Koeman remains as boss with the Bosnian to be the ‘first to ask to leave’ if the former Netherlands head coach remains in the hotseat.

Meanwhile, Sport reckon Chelsea ‘would be interested’ and claim that the west London club ‘could try’ and swap Jorginho for Pjanic, despite the Italian being their top Premier League goalscorer this season.
