Mike Ashley will reward Steve Bruce with a new contract if he keeps Newcastle United in the Premier League, according to reports.
Bruce took over at Newcastle at the start of the 2018/19 season. Even though he replaced the highly popular Rafael Benitez, he did a solid job as the Magpies finished 13th in the Premier League.
They brought in the likes of Callum Wilson and Ryan Fraser last summer and they made a strong start to the season.

But their form over the last few months has been poor. They were in the mid-table positions but they have won just twice so far this year.
This stretch of results has seen them plummet down the table and they are now just above the relegation zone.
At the same time, Fulham’s form has picked up and they are now just two points behind Bruce’s side. Newcastle do have a game in hand over their rivals, though.
The Magpies have nine games to go and they are still to face Tottenham, Liverpool, Arsenal, Leicester and Man City.
The pressure is mounting on Bruce and Newcastle fans are calling for his departure. Despite this, the Telegraph are reporting that Ashley will offer him a new deal if they stay up this season.
The report adds that he would be offered a better wage but he will have a worse compensation package if he was to be sacked.
Former Newcastle man Lee Clark said in a recent interview that they will keep Bruce no matter what:
“I don’t see him getting sacked. I don’t see the club making a change. They’ve done it before this late and it hasn’t worked. I think they’re going to stick with Steve Bruce no matter what.
“I think it’ll only take a couple of wins from now to the end of the season to make them safe. Hopefully he can do that.
“There are big decisions for the club to make. There are big decisions for Steve to make personally. Does he need this? His health and family are the most important things.
“The decision might be taken out of Steve’s hands himself. But it certainly hasn’t been a good watch. They haven’t performed for many many weeks now.”
