Arsenal 0-0 Villarreal (1-2 agg): The Gunners miss out on the UEL final

Pierre-Emerick Aubamayeng hit the post twice for Arsenal as Villarreal hung onto their lead to reach the Europa League final.

The first half at the Emirates was really tentative, which suited Villarreal. The only big chance in the opening 45 minutes fell to Aubameyang.

Unai Emery’s side struggled to clear a corner from the Gunners in the 26th minute. The ball fell to the forward and his effort with the outside of his foot bounced away from danger off the post.

Arsenal continued to pile on the pressure in the second half and Aubameyang hit the post again in the 79th minute. He rose highest to meet Hector Bellerin’s cross but his header struck the woodwork.

The Gunners were not able to find that elusive goal late on as they are knocked out of Europe by Villarreal.
