Ancelotti: Top four place would not affect transfer policy

Carlo Ancelotti has suggested that he already has a clear “plan for the future” when it comes to Everton’s summer signings before next season.

The former Real Madrid and AC Milan boss has done a superb job since taking over at Everton in December 2019. He has 27 wins from his 53 games in charge so far.

The Toffees were productive last summer as they arguably did the best business of any club in the Premier League.

James Rodriguez, Allan, Abdoulaye Doucoure and Ben Godfrey were included in the signings. All four of these players have made a great impact for Everton this season.

Ancelotti’s side are well in contention for the top four. They sit seventh, but a win over West Brom on Thursday would move them up to fourth ahead of Liverpool’s game against Chelsea.

In a recent interview, as cited by the Liverpool Echo, Ancelotti insisted that his plan is “quite clear” for the future:

“I think that the plan for the future – we didn’t talk in the specifics – is quite clear.

“It doesn’t matter, or change a lot, if we are in the Champions League or the Europa League. The plan is to improve the squad with two or three new signings, new players that can improve the positions where we had difficulties this year.

“We didn’t go through the specifics with the club or director (of football) but I think that our future is not so complicated.”
