West Ham keen on £25m-rated midfielder with 18 goal contributions last season – originally posted on Sportslens.com
West Ham United have been linked with a move for the Lille midfielder Jonathan Bamba this summer.
According to Express, the Hammers want to sign Jesse Lingard on a permanent deal from Manchester United but the 28-year-old is keen on staying at his parent club instead.
Bamba has been identified as an alternative to the 28-year-old attacking midfielder.
Lingard was on loan at West Ham during the second half of last season and he was a massive hit for the London club.
Meanwhile, Bamba had a highly impressive season with Lille last year and the 25-year-old managed to pick up seven goals and 11 assists across all competitions.
The winger played a key role in their title win and Lille are demanding around £25 million for his services.
Apparently, the likes of Atalanta and Bayer Leverkusen are interested in signing the France under-21 player as well.
West Ham need to add more goals to their midfield and Bamba could prove to be a superb acquisition for them. The 25-year-old will add pace and flair from the wide areas. He could replace Lingard’s attacking output from last season as well.
The reported asking price could look like a bargain if Bamba manages to settle in quickly. He has the potential to succeed in the Premier League and justify his asking price in the long run.
