Arnaut Danjuma

Bournemouth winger Arnaut Danjuma is close to joining La Liga club Villarreal, according to reports from Sky Sports.

The report claims that the reigning Europa League champions have agreed a deal in the region of £21.3 million to sign the 24-year-old attacking midfielder.

Danjuma will now travel to Spain to complete his medical.

Sky Sports also add that the Dutchman has agreed personal terms with Villarreal, who finished seventh in La Liga last season.

He was in outstanding form for Bournemouth last season, where he bagged 17 goals and eight assists across all competitions last season. They made the play-offs but missed out on promotion back to the Premier League after losing to Brentford in the semi-finals.

The news will come as a blow for Liverpool and Aston Villa.

Back in July, we covered a report that Villa were heavily interested in signing Danjuma. His price at that time was quoted around £35m.

Villa have bolstered that attacking options this summer, following the signings of Emiliano Buendia and Leon Bailey.

It will be interesting to see whether Villa add more players to their ranks in the coming weeks following the departure of Jack Grealish who moved to Manchester City.

Liverpool were also linked with a move earlier this month.

The Reds do have enough options in their attacking midfield department, and probably they didn’t make any serious effort to sign him.

As it stands, Danjuma is on his way to join Villarreal in the next few days.
