Leeds United made a poor opening day start to their new Premier League season after losing 5-1 against Manchester United.
The Whites were trailing 1-0 at the break but they managed to keep the game tight. After the break, they restored parity.
United shifted their gears and made the best use of Leeds’ fragile midfield, with Paul Pogba providing four assists.
Bruno Fernandes, the star of the show for the Red Devils, scored a hat-trick, while Mason Greenwood and Fred got their names on the scoresheet as well.
Kalvin Phillips could only make the bench after he was given an extended rest following his participation in the Euro Championships.
In his place, Robin Koch, the natural central defender, played in the defensive midfield role. While he did well in the first half but was very poor as the game progressed failing to track the clever movements of Fernandes and Pogba.
He contributed very little defensively in midfield while Leeds missed the wide-passing range of Phillips. However, the result only reflects how good United have been this match.
Some fans have taken to Twitter to express their reactions to Koch’s display on Twitter and they were far from impressed.
