‘Needs to be sold’, ‘Absolute mare’ – Some Villa fans tear into 26-yr-old after 3-2 defeat – originally posted on Sportslens.com
Aston Villa crashed to a 3-2 defeat against Watford in the Premier League yesterday.
Goals from Emmanuel Bonaventure, Ismaila Sarr and Cucho Hernandez put the Hornets 3-0 after the 67th-minute mark. Villa did well to come back into the game through goals from John McGinn and Danny Ings.
However, their late effort wasn’t enough to earn them a point away from home and Dean Smith will be thoroughly disappointed with the performance of his players.
Aston Villa looked porous at the back and they were bereft of ideas going forward.
The performance of Anwar El Ghazi in particular was quite disappointing and the fans have shared their concerns about his display after the game.
The 26-year-old Dutch winger struggled to deal with the pressing from Watford and he failed to create any chances for his teammates. El Ghazi was easily dispossessed and he looked short of confidence for an hour before he was taken off.
The player has been heavily criticised for his inconsistency ever since he joined the club and El Ghazi must look to improve if he wants to hold down a regular starting berth at Villa Park in the coming months.
Here is what the Aston Villa fans had to say about his performance against Watford yesterday.
El Ghazi is having an absolute mare. #avfc

Not surprised at all.. he was poor in the pre-season as well.. I am not sure why he is in the team… surely we can find somebody else who can take penalties for the team…

To be fair to me, I have been saying Villa should sign Sarr for at least 2 seasons, pace is golden.
