Leeds want South American with 16 goal contributions last season, player will cost €25m – originally posted on Sportslens.com

Leeds United have been linked with a move for the Brazilian attacker Matheus Cunha in recent weeks.

According to tuttomercatoweb, the Premier League side can now sign the 22 year old forward for a fee of around €25 million.

The Brazilian had an impressive individual campaign with Hertha Berlin last season and his performances have caught the attention of the Premier League club.

Leeds will be aware of the fact that they need to improve in the final third if they want to climb further up the table next season.

Patrick Bamford was the only goal scorer at the club last year and Marcelo Bielsa will have to bring in another forward this summer.

The 22 year old Brazilian mostly operates on the left side of the attack but he can play as a centre forward as well.

Cunha picked up eight goals and eight assists across all competitions for the German club last season and he has the potential to develop into a top-class player in the future.

The Hertha Berlin forward is still only 22 and he has plenty of time to fulfil his potential and justify the reported €25 million asking price. Working with a quality manager like Bielsa could accelerate his development.

There is no doubt that Cunha has the talent to succeed at a club like Leeds and the reported fee could look like a bargain in the coming years if the Whites can help him fulfil his potential.
