Newcastle in pole position to sign 23-yr-old, player delighted by the club’s interest – originally posted on Sportslens.com
Newcastle United are now in pole position to sign the Manchester United defender Axel Tuanzebe.
The 23-year-old is expected to leave Old Trafford after the arrival of Raphael Varane from Real Madrid and the Chronicle are reporting that the player is delighted with the interest from the Magpies.
Tuanzebe needs to play regular first-team football in order to fulfil his potential and a move to St James’ Park could provide him with the platform he needs right now. The defender made just 9 appearances in the Premier League last season.
The player has worked with Steve Bruce in the past and he will be hoping to hold down a regular starting berth under his management.
Newcastle will be hoping to improve on their performances from last season and they will have to tighten up at the back in order to climb up the table. The Magpies conceded a total of 62 goals in the Premier League last season.
Tuanzebe has the potential to develop into a quality Premier League defender and he could be available for a reasonable price because of his situation at Manchester United. A loan deal could be a possibility as well.
A bargain move for Tuanzebe would not only strengthen Newcastle, but it would also let the Magpies invest the majority of their resources in the other areas of the squad.
