CBS Sports have acquired the US broadcasting rights to the Scottish Premiership for the next four seasons, according to World Soccer Talk.

The CBS Sports Network have been working hard to secure the rights to as many football competitions as possible from around the world. Their current selection of leagues is somewhat limited, but they have the US rights to the Champions League, Europa League, and Serie A.

The company also currently holds the rights to several CONCACAF World Cup qualifying matches, the National Women’s Soccer League, numerous top games in Asia, and the Brazilian and Argentinian top flights.

And now they look set to add another league to their selection, with World Soccer Talk reporting that they have purchased the broadcasting rights to the Scottish Premiership. The games will be shown on CBS Sports subsidiary Paramount+.

The rights previously belonged to competitors ESPN, who acquired them less than a year ago in October 2020. Nonetheless, they still hold contracts for the top divisions in England, Spain, Netherlands, and Germany among others.

Carragher is part of CBS’ Champions League team

There are some familiar faces on the CBS Sports Network. Their Champions League coverage is often assisted by the likes of Jamie Carragher, Roberto Martinez, Micah Richards, Alex Scott, and Peter Schmeichel, while their selection of commentators includes Martin Tyler, Peter Drury, Clive Tyldesley, and Guy Mowbray.

The Scottish Premiership is set to get underway later this week, beginning at Ibrox with a clash between defending champions Rangers and Livingston. Steven Gerrard’s men will be hoping to retain the title, having gone unbeaten to lift the trophy for the first time in a decade last term.
