Aston Villa are in talks to sign Leon Bailey from Bayer Leverkusen this summer and the two clubs are reportedly €5 million (£4.2m) apart in valuation.

According to Bild, the West Midlands club have offered a sum of around €30 million for the 23-year-old Jamaican winger and they will have to raise their offer to €35 million in order to sign him.

Bailey has been in exceptional form for the German outfit this past season and he managed to score 15 goals across all competitions. The Jamaican has proven to be an excellent creator as well and he chipped in with 11 assists for Leverkusen.

Villa have been extremely ambitious in the transfer market so far and they will be hoping to push for European qualification next season.

In order for that to happen, they will need to find upgrades on the likes of Anwar El Ghazi and Trezeguet before the window shuts. Both players have been quite inconsistent and Bailey would be a tremendous upgrade on them.

The 23-year-old Bundesliga star is yet to reach his peak and he is only going to improve with coaching and regular game time. The reported €35 million asking price could seem like a massive bargain in the long run.

If Dean Smith can hold on to Jack Grealish and add Leon Bailey to his attack this summer, Villa could be in for an exciting season next year.
