West Ham United remain in discussions with Paris Saint-Germain regarding the transfer of Alphonse Areola.

According to reports via GFFN, the Hammers are negotiating patiently with the French outfit because they are aware that they are in a position of strength.

Apparently, there are no other concrete offers for the 28-year-old goalkeeper.

Areola will have to leave the French outfit this summer in order to play regular first-team football and the Hammers could certainly use someone like him.

West Ham’s first-choice goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski is 36 and David Moyes needs to plan for a future without him now.

Areola was on loan at Fulham last season and the Frenchman was excellent for the Cottagers despite their relegation to the Championship.

The 28-year-old goalkeeper has a contract with PSG until the summer of 2023 but he is clearly unwanted at the club and West Ham will be hoping to sign him for a knock-down price.

PSG have recently signed Gianluigi Donnarumma and they also have Keylor Navas and Sergio Rico at their disposal.

Areola has proven his quality in the Premier League this past season and he could be a quality long-term replacement for Fabianski if the Hammers can pull off his signing in the coming weeks.

Furthermore, the player knows the league well from his time at Fulham and he could make an immediate impact for the Londoners next season.
