Leo Hjelde

Leeds United are in advanced talks to sign Celtic young talent, Leo Hjelde, according to reports from Football Insider.

The Athletic journalist, Phil Hay claimed earlier this week that Leeds are looking at two defenders from Celtic – defenders Matthew Anderson and Leo Hjelde.

The Whites, who have already signed Lewis Bate from Chelsea, are persisting in forming a junior pool in a number of positions who could make the grade in Marcelo Bielsa’s senior team in the future.

The report now claim that Leeds are in advanced talks to sign Celtic rising star, and that an offer has been made already.

The Premier League club are working on a deal to sign the 17-year-old, and the player apparently is very keen to join the Yorkshire outfit.

Football Insider add that discussions with Hjelde are progressing well, and there is growing confidence that a deal will be struck soon.

He is out of contract at Parkhead next summer. Leeds have courted him for a long time, and they feel he has got immense potential.

If the youngster joins the club, he would become their sixth signing of the summer. Along with Bate, he is likely to join the academy ranks.

Meanwhile, Leeds are keen to sign a central midfielder this summer for the senior team and have earmarked Conor Gallagher as one of their targets.

Crystal Palace are also keen to sign the Chelsea midfielder but Leeds have made an approach already to sign the 21-year-old on loan.
