33 goals last season: Long-term Rangers target keen on Ibrox move this summer

33 goals last season: Long-term Rangers target keen on Ibrox move this summer – originally posted on Sportslens.com

Peterborough striker Jonson Clarke-Harris is thought to be keen on a move to Rangers this summer.

According to Daily Record, the Scottish champions have been monitoring the 27 year old for a while now and he is a long-term target for them.

Star striker Alfredo Morelos has been linked with a move away from Ibrox this summer and it is no secret that Rangers will have to bring in a top-class replacement.

The 27-year-old recently scored 33 goals last season to secure Peterborough’s berth in the Championship next season.

Clarke-Harris is a proven goal scorer and he could certainly replace Morelos next year if the Colombian decides to move on.

Steven Gerrard cannot hope to go into the next season with Kemar Roofe and Jermain Defoe as his only striking options and the Scottish giants must look to seal a move for Clarke-Harris in the coming weeks.

Rangers will be hoping to defend the title next season and they cannot afford to weaken their side. Someone like Clarke-Harris is at the peak of his powers right now and he could hit the ground running.

Apparently, the likes of Sheffield United, West Bromwich Albion and CSKA Moscow are keen on signing the 27-year-old as well.

It will be interesting to see if the Scottish champions can fend off the competition and secure the player’s services this summer.

The fact that he is interested in a move to Ibrox will come as a major boost to Rangers and it could certainly encourage them to come forward with a concrete offer now.
