Liverpool are thought to be interested in signing the Sparta Prague striker Adam Hlozek.
According to Football Insider, the Premier League giants scouted the young forward on Tuesday night during his side’s Champions League qualifier against Rapid Vienna.
The Reds are thought to be weighing up a bid for the 18-year-old who is reportedly a target for West Ham United and AC Milan as well.
Apparently, the player is likely to cost around £15-20 million this summer. There is no doubt that the 18-year-old would be a quality future prospect for Liverpool. The report fee could look like a bargain if he continues to develop at this rate.
Despite being 18, Hlozek is already a key player for Sparta Prague and he was a part of the Czech Republic squad for the European Championships. The young striker scored 15 goals and picked up nine assists across all competitions last season and he can operate as a left-sided forward as well.
The Reds need to add more depth to their attack and the youngster could play a backup role to Roberto Firmino next season. The Brazilian’s form has dipped over the last two seasons and Hlozek will fancy replacing him in the starting line-up in the future.
Firmino is undoubtedly a top-class footballer but his goalscoring numbers are quite mediocre. Liverpool need someone with better finishing ability and Hlozek would provide just that.
The 18-year-old has scored different types of goals in his career so far and he has all the makings of a complete forward. The youngster can dribble past the keeper, curl one in from tight angles and chip in with long-range strikes. Furthermore, Hlozek is quite capable in the air.
His ability to break the offside trap and intelligent movement in the channels will cover for Firmino’s off-the-ball work as well. Hlozek is a quality dribbler like Firmino and his ball-carrying ability would be a perfect fit for Liverpool’s style of play.
Apart from Firmino, the likes of Divock Origi have been quite underwhelming as backup options this past season and Hlozek would be an upgrade on the Belgian.
