Aston Villa are thought to be interested in signing the Bayer Leverkusen winger Leon Bailey.

The West Midlands club were heavily linked with a move for the Arsenal youngster Emile Smith Rowe but it appears that they have now moved on from the 20-year-old and are now eyeing up a move for the Jamaican winger.

Bailey is one of the most exciting young attackers around Europe right now and the 23-year-old was outstanding in the Bundesliga this past season.

The Leverkusen winger managed to score 15 goals and pick up 11 assists across all competitions last year and he is valued at around £25-30 million.

Apparently, Dean Smith is keen on adding to his attacking unit and Villa could look to cash in on Anwar El Ghazi this summer as per Daily Mail.

Bailey will add pace, flair and goals to Smith’s attack and he can operate on both flanks. His versatility will be an added bonus will the Premier League side if they manage to snap him up in the coming months.

Villa have already signed Emiliano Buendia from Norwich City earlier this summer and it appears that they are prioritising their attack in the transfer market.

Bailey has proven himself in the German league and the chance to join a Premier League club could be tempting for the 23-year-old this summer.

The reported asking price seems quite reasonable for a player of his calibre as well and the Jamaican certainly has the potential to justify the outlay in the long run.
