Report: Leeds priced out of deal to sign £30m play-maker who lit up the PL last season – originally posted on Sportslens.com
Leeds have been priced out of a deal to sign West Brom ace Matheus Pereira according to a report from ESPN Brazil.
Whites boss Marcelo Bielsa seems determined to build a squad capable of pushing for the top six this season.
The Argentine has already brought Junior Firpo to Elland Road and has turned Jack Harrison’s loan deal into a permanent one.
Strengthening his attacking ranks even further still seems to be the next item on Bielsa’s agenda.
The West Yorkshire outfit won’t have things all their own way, however.
Leeds priced out of Matheus Pereira deal
West Brom are demanding £30 million for the 25-year-old play-maker according to ESPN Brazil.
And that kind of fee is apparently too much for the Whites to splash out on the Brazilian.
If true, that really does seem rather strange. Pereira is an incredible player.
He racked up 11 goals and six assists in 33 Premier League games for West Brom last season.
The South American possesses one of the most wicked deliveries in the game as well.
Pereira would offer Leeds a completely different threat in the final third.
Sure, £30 million is a lot of money on the face of it. It isn’t relatively speaking in this day and age, however.
If the Whites miss out on the Baggies ace, Andrea Radrizzani may well regret not backing Bielsa with the funds required to bring him to Elland Road.
