Arsenal are leading the race to sign Barcelona goalkeeper Neto.

According to reports from Mundo Deportivo, both Arsenal and Tottenham are interested in signing Neto who prefers a move to the Premier League.

The 32-year-old goalkeeper simply wants to leave Barcelona this summer and move to England, and doesn’t really care who comes up with an offer for him.

Arsenal wanted to sign Neto during the January transfer window, but the deal didn’t materialise at that time.

The Gunners have rekindled their interest, with Mikel Arteta keen to sign a goalkeeper to his ranks.

The report claims that the Premier League has become the only possible destination for Neto this summer, and Barcelona won’t stop him from leaving.

Arsenal apparently have taken a “step forward”, and they are determined to sign him. Mundo Deportivo add that there’s still a long way to go before the operation can be sealed.

Neto’s representatives consider a move to Arsenal as the “most viable” solution.

Cash strapped Barcelona are looking to reduce their wage bill, and Neto will be offloaded. Barcelona were demanding a fee in the region of 14 million Euro for the player, and his potential suitors feel the price is over the top.

Tottenham are also reportedly interested in signing Neto, with Joe Hart and Hugo Lloris, both 34, having their days numbered at the north London club.

If the reports are to be believed, Spurs have agreed on a deal to sign the Atalanta goalkeeper Pierluigi Gollini.

Unless Spurs move for another goalkeeper this summer, Gollini’s potential arrival could pave the way for Arsenal to move for Neto.
