Jonathan Castro Otto

AS Roma are eyeing a move to sign Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Jonathan Castro Otto, commonly known as Jonny, according to Calciomercato.

Jose Mourinho, the new Roma boss, is looking to make several necessary changes to the squad, following his arrival in the summer.

The former Tottenham Hotspur boss has already signed Rui Patricio from Wolves.

Patricio enjoyed three fantastic years at Molineux. However, it seems he is not the only Wolves player who could make a switch to Italy this summer.

Calciomercato claim that Jonny has emerged as one of the targets for Roma, with Mourinho looking to add depth and quality to the left-back areas.

The Giallorossi are also interested in signing Borussia Monchengladbach defender Ramy Bensebaini and Manchester United’s Alex Telles.

However, Mourinho has found no luck in his attempt to sign Telles from his former club.

Roma have also other options like Matias Vina and Reinaldo.

Jonny joined Wolves in 2019 and has a contract at the club till 2025. He signed a new deal early in February this year, and doubts remain whether Wolves would want to let him go.

He is primarily a left-back but can also play as a right-back or a left-sided midfielder.

The Spaniard only managed to make seven Premier League appearances last season, with the 27-year-old’s campaign severely hampered by two serious injuries.

While he would be a smart addition for Roma, it is highly unlikely that Wolves would want to offload their versatile defender.
