Everton and Tottenham Hotspur have repeatedly been linked with Juventus defender Merih Demiral this summer.

The 23-year-old has fallen down the pecking order at the Italian club and needs to leave to play regular first-team football.

According to Tuttosport, the defender is valued at around €35 million.

Everton and Spurs need to bring in quality defensive reinforcements, and the Turkish international would be a solid acquisition.

Demiral has the talent to develop into a top-class player, but he needs coaching and regular game time.

The Toffees are in the market for a long term partner for Ben Godfrey, and Demiral could be the man for the job.

New Everton manager Rafa Benitez is defensively astute and could help him improve immensely next season.

With regards to Spurs, Demiral could be a replacement for Davinson Sanchez, who looks set to leave the club this summer.

Although the asking price seems steep right now, Demiral is only 23 and has plenty of time to fulfil his potential and justify the outlay.

Meanwhile, Spurs are already expected to sign Japanese defender Takehiro Tomiyasu, while Everton have also been linked with Kalidou Koulibaly.

Both clubs need reinforcements if they are to mount a serious challenge for a top-four place next season.
