Aston Villa are keen on signing the Everton youngster Thierry Small.

The 16-year-old is highly rated at Goodison Park and he is being monitored by top European clubs.

According to Football Insider, the West Midlands club have now joined the race to sign the talented young defender this summer.

Small made his senior debut for Everton back in January and the likes of Arsenal, Manchester United and Bayern Munich are thought to be keeping tabs on him.

It remains to be seen whether the youngster is keen on returning to the Midlands in the summer. The player’s uncle played for Aston Villa in the past and it could give Dean Smith’s side an edge in the transfer chase.

Meanwhile, Everton want to hold on to the player and they will offer him a professional contract on the 1st of August.

The player is reportedly training alone away from the club now but the Merseyside outfit are hopeful of holding onto him.

Small is clearly a prodigious talent and he could be a superb future prospect for Villa if they manage to sign him. If he can fulfill his potential with them, Small could end up saving them millions in the transfer market.

Villa have done well to nurture young players like Louie Barry and Carney Chukwuemeka in recent seasons. They could help the Everton defender develop as well.
