Liverpool in pole position to sign 23-yr-old target despite interest from Euro giants – originally posted on Sportslens.com

Portuguese international Renato Sanches has been linked with a move to the Premier League this summer.

According to Rudy Galetti, the 23-year-old midfielder is a target for Liverpool and Barcelona.

However, the Premier League giants are currently in pole position to sign the creative midfielder.

The Reds will have to bring in adequate midfield cover after the departure of Gini Wijnaldum and Sanches seems like a good fit for them stylistically. He would suit Klopp’s high-intensity pressing football.

The midfielder was highly rated before his move to Bayern Munich. However, his development stalled since joining the German club.

It seems that the 23-year-old has managed to recapture his form with Lille and he helped them win the French league last season.

Sanches showed his quality in the European Championships with Portugal this summer and he could prove to be the ideal long-term replacement for Wijnaldum at Anfield.

Barcelona have asked for information regarding the player as well and it remains to be seen how the situation evolves over the next few weeks.

The Reds have been linked with a move for the Atletico Madrid midfielder Saul Niguez as well.

It is fair to assume that Jurgen Klopp is prioritizing the signing of a central midfielder this summer and it will be interesting to see who they end up signing eventually.

Sanches is only 23 and he has the potential to develop further. If the Reds can snap him up for a reasonable fee in the coming weeks, the transfer could prove to be a masterstroke in the future.
