17 goal contributions last season: Spurs keen on 24-yr-old who impressed in Copa America – originally posted on Sportslens.com
Tottenham Hotspur were linked with a move for the Colombian international Luis Diaz earlier this month.
Portuguese newspaper Correio da Manha are now reporting that Inter Milan, AC Milan and Roma are keeping tabs on the highly-rated winger as well.
Diaz had an excellent season with Porto last year and he carried that form into Copa America as well.
The 24-year-old scored a total of four goals in the South American tournament and he managed to produce goal-scoring displays against the finalists Argentina and Brazil.
Apparently, the attacker has a release clause of €80 million and he has a contract with the Portuguese outfit until the summer of 2024.
It is evident that Porto are under no pressure to sell him this summer and his suitors will have to agree to the Portuguese club’s asking price if they want to secure his services.
It is highly unlikely that any club will want to pay his release clause and Porto will have to agree on a reasonable fee in order for any transfer to happen.
The 24-year-old has shown that he has the capability to play in a top European league and a move to the Premier League could be an interesting challenge for him.
Tottenham are in desperate need of attacking reinforcements, especially in the wide areas.
The Porto star could prove to be an upgrade on the likes of Steven Bergwijn next season. The Dutchman arrived at the London club as an exciting prospect but he has failed to live up to the expectations so far.
Luis Diaz scored 11 goals and picked up six assists across all competitions for the Portuguese club last season. There is no doubt that the 24-year-old could be a solid long-term investment for the Londoners this summer.
