Versatile 23-yr-old will be available for just £5m this summer, Newcastle and Celtic keen – originally posted on Sportslens.com
Newcastle United and Celtic are thought to be keen on signing the Tottenham Hotspur defender Cameron Carter-Vickers.
According to Football Insider, the 23-year-old American International is set to leave the London club after failing to hold down a first-team berth over the last few seasons.
Tottenham have reportedly triggered a 12-month extension in the defender’s contract and they are now preparing to cash in on him in the coming weeks. The London club are thought to be holding out for a fee of around £5 million.
Newcastle could definitely use some depth in their defence and Carter-Vickers would be a quality squad player for them. He can play as a centre back as well as a full back and his versatility will be quite useful for Steve Bruce and his side next season.
Meanwhile, Celtic are in need of defensive reinforcements and the Tottenham player seems like an ideal fit for them.
Carter-Vickers needs to join a club where he can play regular first-team football and both clubs would represent excellent moves for him.
The Tottenham defender is only 23 and he is likely to improve with game time and coaching in the future.
The reported £5 million asking price could look like a bargain if the player manages to improve and fulfil his potential in the coming seasons.
