Aston Villa are reportedly interested in signing the River Plate attacker Julian Alvarez this summer and the Premier League side are expected to submit a concrete bid for him in the coming days.
According to TNT Sports, the 20-year-old forward’s representative is already in England and Villa are preparing an offer of more than €10 million for the player.
Alvarez is expected to join up with his compatriot Emiliano Martinez at the West Midlands club next season.
The 20-year-old is highly rated in Argentina and he has a big future ahead of him. He could prove to be a quality long-term investment for the Premier League club.
Villa could definitely use more depth in their attack and the youngster could be a useful squad option for them next year.
The 20-year-old is naturally a right-sided winger but he can operate as a striker as well as a left-sided forward.
Alvarez picked up four goals and seven assists across all competitions for River Plate last season and he is only going to get better with experience and coaching.
If the Premier League side can agree on a reasonable fee with the Argentine club for the young attacker, the transfer could prove to be a bargain in the future.
Alvarez has a contract with River Plate until the 31st of December 2022 and he is unlikely to cost a lot of money this summer.
