Maxence Lacroix

Tottenham Hotspur could be looking to sign a new defender this summer.

According to Italian journalist, Fabrizio Romano, Spurs have added Maxence Lacroix to their short-list of defensive targets for the summer transfer window.

Spurs need to sign a central defender this summer. Toby Alderweireld has told the club that he wants to leave, and Spurs have assured him that they won’t block any potential move, should they receive a good offer.

The likes of Eric Dier and Davinson Sanchez have failed to exude confidence last season, with Joe Rodon hasn’t played much.

The north London club have been linked with a host of defenders already, with the likes of Milan Skriniar and Nikola Milenkovic being linked with a move.

Romano on Here We Go podcast has claimed that Lacroix is the latest player to have emerged as a potential target for Nuno Espirito Santo.

The 21-year-old is a highly talented young defender who impressed heavily last season for German club Wolfsburg. He is seen as one of the best young talents in the Bundesliga and would be an exciting signing for Spurs.

The youngster made 30 appearances in the Bundesliga last season, scoring once. Solid at tackling, his main attractive feature lies in reading the game. He is pacey defender who is very good at ball interception.

Spurs are close to signing Takehiro Tomiyasu, while Jules Kounde is also a target for the north London club. Wolfsburg reportedly want £26m (€30m) for Lacroix.

The north Londoners are probably looking at players who can be a leader at the back. Lacroix is a highly-rated defender, but he is inexperienced.
