Tottenham keen to sign 28-year-old star…but player has his heart set on elsewhere – originally posted on Sportslens.com
Danny Ings has recently rejected the latest contract extension offer from Southampton, and his future has come under speculation once again.
The 28-year-old has a contract at the Saints till 2022. Southampton now have a big decision to make – whether to keep him at the club and lose him for free next summer or sell him now and get a decent transfer fee.
While Southampton remain optimistic that he will extend his stay at St Mary’s, senior figures at the club are actively trying to find a buyer.
According to reports from The Athletic, three clubs – Tottenham Hotspur, West Ham and Aston Villa – have shown interest in signing the former Liverpool striker.
However, Ings is likely to reject them as “he has his heart set on the top table.”

Ings has done well in the past three seasons (including a loan spell) at St Mary’s. He has managed 46 goals in 100 appearances for them.
When fit, he is one of the top finishers in the league. He has the skill and ability to play for a top-four Premier League club, but very few clubs want to take a gamble with him because of his poor injury record.
Tottenham will require a backup striker for Harry Kane, and Ings would have been a good option. However, the situation could change for the north London club dramatically if Kane decides to leave the club this summer, with Manchester City vying for his signature.
