‘Sad reality’, ‘Fraud’: Some Arsenal fans are unhappy with reported interest in Barcelona man – originally posted on Sportslens.com

A selection of Arsenal fans have not welcomed the prospect of Barcelona goalkeeper Neto joining the club this summer.

The Brazilian was heavily linked with the Gunners in January before they signed Mat Ryan on loan from Brighton & Hove Albion.

Ryan is unlikely to rejoin them this summer, and it has recently been reported that the club are still interested in Neto’s services.

His agent Kia Joorabchian is working closely to secure the transfer. Some Gunners supporters are unhappy with proceedings.

Twitter reactions:

Neto has been the deputy to Marc-Andre ter Stegen. He played just seven league games last term but impressed by saving 16 of the 21 shots on target.

The 31-year-old is confident passing from the back, which would suit Mikel Arteta’s style of play, but he is still occasionally prone to unforced errors.

Neto made a blunder against Alaves during the first half of last season. His poor touch from a back pass allowed Luis Rioja to nab possession and score into an empty net.

That moment has been etched into the memory of some Gunners fans. Meanwhile, a few are unimpressed with the club continuing to deal with players associated with Joorabchian.

David Luiz turned out a decent-to-good signing, but the same can’t be said about Willian, who failed to make any meaningful impact after his free transfer last summer.

He bagged just one goal and seven assists from 37 outings. The Gunners are already searching for potential suitors for the Brazilian as they look to free up funds.

The Gunners could be looking for more than one goalkeeper this summer, with Arteta open to parting ways with current first-choice Bernd Leno.
