Potential blow for Leeds as report explains Junior Firpo complication – originally posted on Sportslens.com
Leeds United have extensively been linked with a move to sign Junior Firpo in recent weeks.
It was claimed yesterday by AS that the 24-year-old Barcelona ace was set to sign for the Whites on a four-year deal, as covered right here on Sportslens.
Left-back is an area where Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa really needs to strengthen at Elland Road this summer.
And Firpo is the left-back who has been most heavily linked with a move to the Yorkshire outfit this summer.
However, there may well be a problem on the horizon for Bielsa.
Leeds face Junior Firpo problem
Spanish media outlet Sport claims that there is a slight hold up in Firpo’s move as Real Betis are owed 20% of any fee that Barcelona receive for the left-back.
With Barca in such a poor state financially, that may well be an issue.
Betis allegedly want their cut in one lump sum, while the Catalan giants are obviously keen to get maximum value for the left-sided defender.
This is surely just a small issue that Leeds fans will be hoping irons itself out.
Firpo would be an excellent addition for the Whites. He is an outstanding defender and is also very good going forward.
This does seem to have the makings of a long, drawn-out transfer saga, and Leeds fans will be keen to see Firpo to be unveiled at Elland Road soon rather than later.
