Spurs eye move for £20m star…but Arsenal readying a contract worth £100k-per-week – originally posted on Sportslens.com
Tottenham Hotspur, who are still without a manager, are set to rival Arsenal for the signing of Houssem Aouar in the summer transfer window.
Aouar was heavily linked with a move to Arsenal last summer. However, the deal never materialised and he remained a Lyon player.
Last season, the 22-year-old was in sparkling form. He made 33 appearances across all competitions, scoring eight times and providing four assists.
However, with Lyon failing to secure Champions League qualification, Aouar is now looking to leave the club this summer.
According to a recent report from The Sun, Arsenal are ready to bid for him again this summer and the club feel they’ve got a good chance of getting him.
The report further claimed that the Frenchman could be available for only £20m, and the Gunners are readying a contract worth £100k-a-week to lure the midfielder.
The figure is well within Arsenal’s price range, and they are confident of sealing a deal for him this time around.
Arsenal are now facing competitions from their north London rivals, Tottenham, for his signature.
According to reports from Sunday Mirror, Spurs are looking to add creativity to their side, and the young midfielder features on the new director of football Fabio Paratici’s list of targets.
Both clubs have limited options in an advanced midfield role, and it makes sense that they monitor Aouar’s situation closely.
Lyon apparently do not want to sell their prized asset, but it would be hard for them to reject if they receive a good offer for Aouar.
