Manchester City want Aston Villa captain Jack Grealish this summer, but they are yet to begin talks with the Midlands outfit.

That is according to Sky Sports Italia journalist Fabrizio Romano who provided the latest update on Twitter.

Man City also want Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane, but landing both the English striker and Grealish this summer could prove complicated.

Villa reportedly would only consider an offer over £100 million before thinking of parting with their most important player.

With the Spurs star expected to cost more, spending over £200m on two players in one window does not look feasible for the Etihad Stadium outfit.

A new striker is of utmost priority to Man City manager Pep Guardiola after the departure of Sergio Aguero at the end of last season, which could be good news for Villa.

If the Premier League champions decide to break the bank for Kane, a move for Grealish this summer could be shelved for financial reasons.

However, they could look to return for the attacking midfielder next summer, but that is not guaranteed.

As expected, Villa would be playing hardball over selling their influential skipper, with owners Wes Edens and Naseef Sawiris ready to further invest in Dean Smith’s squad.

A summer transfer saga could be on the cards as it does not look like this story will be going away anytime soon.

Villa cannot afford to let Grealish leave if they are serious about breaking into Europe next season.
