Leeds intensify efforts to sign 22-yr-old target, Bielsa has requested his signing – originally posted on Sportslens.com
Leeds United have been linked with a move for the Hertha Berlin attacker Matheus Cunha for a while now.
According to UOL, the Premier League side have now intensified their efforts to sign the player who will cost around €25-30 million this summer.
Apparently, Marcelo Bielsa has requested the signing of Cunha this summer and the Premier League side are prepared to make an extra effort.
According to reports, the 22-year-old Brazilian has a contract with the German club until the summer of 2025. It is evident that Leeds will have to pay the asking price if they want to secure the Brazilian’s services this summer. He has a long term contract and the Germans are under no pressure to cash in on him this summer.
Leeds could definitely use more attacking depth and Cunha would be a superb long term acquisition.
The highly-rated centre forward scored eight goals and picked up eight assists in all competitions last season. The 22-year-old can operate as a wide forward as well as his versatility will be an added bonus for Bielsa and Leeds.
Patrick Bamford had a highly successful season last year but the English forward is not a clinical goal scorer. Bielsa needs to bring in more options to lead the line and Cunha seems like a perfect fit.
The increased competition for places will also raise the performance levels of the players. Cunha, Bamford and Rodrigo would all be vying for the starting berth next season.
