Report claims Everton are in talks to sign 96-cap international this summer – originally posted on Sportslens.com
Everton are interested in signing the Argentine goalkeeper Sergio Romero this summer.
According to The Athletic, the experienced shot-stopper is in talks with the Premier League club.
Apparently, Everton tried to sign him last year as well but the Red Devils turned down a loan offer from the Toffees.
Romero was the third choice goalkeeper at Manchester United behind the likes of David De Gea and Dean Henderson. The Argentine international will be hoping to join a club where he can play regular first-team football and a move to Goodison Park could be ideal for him.

The Toffees are in desperate need of an upgrade on Jordan Pickford and Romero could challenge the England international for the starting berth. Pickford has been quite error-prone for Everton and the goalkeeping position has been a major weakness for the Merseyside outfit over the last two years.
The 96-cap Argentine international’s contract with Manchester United expires later this month and he would be an inexpensive addition to the Everton squad.
Romero has the quality and the experience to be the number one goalkeeper at Everton and his signing could prove to be a bargain for the Merseyside outfit.
The 34-year-old’s arrival on a free transfer would allow the Toffees to direct their resources towards the other areas of the squad that needs strengthening.
The goalkeeper is thought to be on the radar of Juventus and Celta Vigo as well. However, the report adds that the player is keen on staying in the Premier League next year.
